A FastPass to SAS knowledge

I'm about to give you the single-most valuable piece of advice for getting the most out of your experience at SAS Global Forum 2012. Are you ready? Here it is:

When you walk through the gates the Disney Hollywood Studios park (on your day off, of course), run -- don't walk -- to grab your FastPass for the Toy Story ride.

I visited Disney World with my family in October, and I can verify: The line is always long for that attraction, but it is great fun. (Unlike the Dumbo ride in Magic Kingdom -- the line is always long for that as well, but I just don't see the point.)

It turns out that the third week of April is a very good week to enjoy the parks at Disney World. Spring break season has ended, Easter weekend is over, school is in session, and there aren't yet any hurricanes brewing.

I prepared a simple series plot to illustrate the projected overall crowd experience. For this, I used the SGPLOT procedure. The trend line is the expected relative crowd level, and I added my own reference lines according to my own estimated crowd "comfort" level.

Another tip: If you do plan to enjoy the parks as part of your trip to SAS Global Forum, I can also recommend touringplans.com as a resource for optimizing your park endeavors. An inexpensive subscription grants you access to tremendous data for each park ... even estimated wait times for each attraction! As a SAS professional, you'll have the chance to exercise your analytic and optimization skills as you relax with the family.
